We'll learn about where the early pioneers shopped in Old Town and the families that ran those businesses. There will be stories about the family that brought boxing and wrestling to Old Town, a Mexican food restaurant that started after two brothers were denied service at a bar in another city, and a store in Old Town that began as a pool hall and a grocery store more than 100 years ago. 

While listening, enjoy a sweet treat from The Bright Side Cafe, a local Old Town Scottsdale coffee shop inside The Merchantile Market!

This presentation is part of Stories & Sweets, a collection of stories shared throughout June. It is presented by the City of Scottsdale and Citizen Advisor, Bruce Wall. Bruce Wall will host three additional Stories & Sweets on Tuesdays in June including:

How to find Stories & Sweets

This presentation is hosted in the Community Design Studio, a building that looks like an old church (because it was!) and is on the northeast corner of 75th Street and Indian School Road.

We have limited parking on the west and north sides of the building, but you can park in the lot to the north at the Methodist Church. Please avoid parking on the west side of the church that is used for the daycare parents to drop-off/pick up their children. Review the map below of the Community Design Studio and the Methodist Church parking lots — please park in the green areas only, as pictures in the photo below.
