More stories of the early pioneers of Scottsdale who settled here before most modern conveniences were available. You’ll hear about the first business on Main Street, our first businesswoman, Scottsdale’s first incredible entrepreneur, and their legacy. We’ll also explore the story behind the founding of Scottsdale High School and the family that donated the land to the school district. 

While listening, enjoy a sweet treat from The Marketplace by Arcadia Farms, a local Old Town Scottsdale treasure!

This presentation is part of Stories & Sweets, a collection of stories shared throughout June. It is presented by the City of Scottsdale and Citizen Advisor, Bruce Wall. Bruce Wall will host three additional Stories & Sweets on Tuesdays in June including:

Stories & Sweets is part of June Days in Old Town Scottsdale. 

June Days presents the very best of what makes Old Town Scottsdale so fun — with daily events encouraging locals and visitors to get out and discover the area’s shops, restaurants, wineries, galleries, local points of interest, and museums. From unique workshops to yoga mornings and music to immersive art exhibits and stadium tours, the City of Scottsdale welcomes everyone to join in on this summertime celebration!

How to find Stories & Sweets

This presentation is hosted in the Community Design Studio, a building that looks like an old church (because it was!) and is on the northeast corner of 75th Street and Indian School Road.

We have limited parking on the west and north sides of the building, but you can park in the lot to the north at the Methodist Church. Please avoid parking on the west side of the church that is used for the daycare parents to drop-off/pick up their children. Review the map below of the Community Design Studio and the Methodist Church parking lots — please park in the green areas only, as pictures in the photo below.
